Confessions of a Para-Normal – The First Book

Rose on pageConfessions of a Para-Normal – The First Book

By Caryn Moya Block

I always wanted to write a book. I loved reading and stepping into other author’s worlds. But the dream of being an author had been put on a shelf until I approached turning 50. Several things happened at that time. I got sick, and had to quit my job. Then it took me six months to get well. For the first time since moving to VA, I wasn’t working at least part-time.

Money was tight, since I wasn’t working, so I stayed home. One morning I began to write. By 2010, I had fifteen or so stories done. I won’t go into how I cyber-stalked authors and learned their marketing techniques. We’ll save that for a regular post on author techniques.

Anyway, in January of 2011, I went to a Theta healing class and announced that I was going to write a book and self-publish it. My friends all encouraged me and I went home feeling pretty good about myself. I had a goal. In April, I turned 50.

During that year, I took several other Theta healing classes with the same group of people. In one of them, we were learning how to connect with the Divine and give answers to a client’s questions. I asked the person I worked with, which book I should publish first. Remember, I had written several by this time.

Her answer surprised me when she said “I’m getting the name Violet. Does that mean anything to you?” It took me a minute, and then I remembered my character’s name in Alpha’s Mate. So that told me which book to focus on.

Some people might think I rushed home and got to work on my manuscript. But they would be wrong. My story wasn’t long enough and needed major revisions, and I let life get in the way without accomplishing anything.

In October of 2011, I went to a new age convention in Ohio. The friend I was traveling with told me to get online and decide which psychic I wanted a reading from. She explained that we would have to go first thing, and get in line at their booth, so we could sign up for a scheduled time.

I didn’t know any of the people coming, so I looked through the names and found one that resonated with me. Instead of standing in line, I emailed the lady and told her I was coming in from VA. She graciously gave me an appointment time. So I was all set and with very little hassle.

I went to my reading at the scheduled time and sat down, my notebook in hand so I could take notes. The psychic said “I see a book in your future, in fact, I see three books and you are way behind!”

I was stunned. The year was almost over and I hadn’t done anything to get my manuscript ready for publishing. I asked myself some hard questions. Did I want to be an author or didn’t I? Was I willing to sit and let time slip by, when not only was the Divine clueing me in but was telling me I was way behind?

When I got home, I got to work on Alpha’s Mate and self-published it January 1st 2012. The book went viral its second month and as they say, the rest is history.

When I look back, I am so glad I listened to the Divine and the messages it shared with me. Thanks goodness, those two people were willing to be used as vessels to give me the information I needed to hear.

It’s not always easy to listen to those communications from the Divine. It’s so simple to think it a coincidence or ignore the idea completely. But the messages are there if we will only listen, myself included.
