My husband won a trip to Maine, which happened to fall on the dates of Rockland Maine’s Lobster Festival. I had never been to Maine before and all of our friends talked about the boiled lobsters and the lobster rolls. (Picture Below) They were right. The Lobster was so fresh no matter where we went.
But I also loved the Maine storytellers who shared some of their traditional stories. The moose caller was one of my favorites. The setting at the festival is small and similar to a county fair, including a Lobster Queen.
Also in Rockland is the Farnsworth Art Museum. My husband and I decided to take a look and enjoyed their “Every Picture Tells A Story Exhibit, Illustrations of N.C. Wyeth.” I have a copy of “Robin Hood” that is illustrated by N.C. Wyeth, so the exhibit meant a lot to me.
We stayed at the Wild Iris Inn located in Portland, Maine. An old Victorian home, the inn is charming. Everyone in Maine is very conscious of being green, something else that was a nice touch.
The weather was fabulous with only a couple of rain showers later in the day. We were on our way home from the lobster fest and stopped at a restaurant for dinner to ride out the heavy downpours. After the storm moved off the coast a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky. (Picture Below)
We had a wonderful time and if you haven’t been to Maine, I would highly recommend it. As you can see I took a lot of pictures and no, not just of food. I could definitely see a pack of Lycans hanging out in Maine. Maybe another book in the making. But now I need to get back to my Christmas novella while I wait for “A Siberian Werewolf in Paris” to come back from the editor. Wishing you all the best where ever you may be.
great post…beautiful rainbow…
Thanks, JMD.
Love Lobster! Have Fun 🙂
Thanks, Pam. It was great fun. I even found a wolf bag at the festival. 🙂
Of course I had to buy it.
