I love the Christmas season, the lights, the music, the smell of something baking in the kitchen, the tree. It all brings a feeling of coziness and love to my home. So many memories rise up like bubbles in champagne. It’s beautiful, but most of all it’s Magical. It’s one of the only times of the year where the whole world celebrates, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ashura, Bodhi Day, Yalda, Yule, Christmas. We all wrap ourselves in our traditions and let the magic of the Divine shine brightly.
Christians don’t question whether or not a heavily pregnant teenager really did give birth in a manger. All we see is the Star and the Angels, the child and hope for a new world. We set up winter scenes with miniature houses, trees, and deer. We stare into colored lights while thinking of the light coming into the world. We drink hot chocolate and build snowmen. For just a little while, we put our troubles away and enjoy this time of giving and celebration. We find Joy in the magic and in the living.
